My name is Edgars Garšneks! I'm a software developer from Latvia
with over 10 years of experience in custom software engineering starting from basic CRUD applications to complex distributed systems.
I have always been passionate about solving challenging problems, designing solutions and reinventing the wheel for the knowledge sake.
Besides main work have been involved in many educational activities - giving guest lectures in university and leading different programming courses.
My team members would describe me as a person who is always willing to help and share knowledge in very detailed way. One of the 2024 new year's resolutions goals is be more active in Open Source community and start sharing knowledge on the web!

Thesis: Simultaneous Localization and Mapping for autonomous mobile robots. In this thesis investigated monocular SLAM algorithms. Worked on scale factor estimation using sensor data and map resolution adjustment.

Thesis: Machine learning techniques and their application in teaching a virtual car how to drive through a virtual environment. In this thesis researched in depth machine learning algorithms incl. genetic algorithms, feed-forward neural networks. Implemented a solution to teach a virtual car how to drive through a virtual environment combining genetic algorithms and neural networks.

The main responsibility is providing practical lectures for the course “Numerical methods” and evaluating students. Both theoretical knowledge and practical implementations of various approximation methods are discussed in the lectures.
